DALBORA GENETICS was first established in January 2008 following a decision by Dalrae Holsteins and Brookbora Jerseys to join forces and create a multi breed partnership. Located at Tennyson in Northern Victoria, holsteins make their home at Dalrae Holsteins owned by Daryl, Maria, Hayden & Tori Collins, while jersey progeny reside with the herd of Brookbora Jerseys owned by Robert, Sandra, Michelle & Daniel Bacon.
KAARMONA FLOWERPOWER BABE 5
The first of the Babe Family was purchased by Dalbora Genetics at the Northern Lights Sale in April 2008, bringing home Meldan Brookbi Babe. This branch of the Babe family is extremely consistant with production indices well above herd average across every generation along with great type. Brookbi Babe calved in November 2008 with a Valerian heifer and next due in September 2010 to Spiritual
In August 2008 further members of the Babe family were purchased. Dam, Kaarmona Flowerpower Babe 5, full sister Meldan Brookbi Babe 2, and maternal sisters Meldan Valerian Babe (Due Larfalot August '10) Meldan Impuls Babe (Due T-Bone August '10) made the move to Tennyson. Meldan Brookbi Babe 2 calved in February 2009 with a Blackstone heifer and is due to T Bone in May 2010. Meldan Brookbi Babe 2 received first place in the 2 1/2 year old class in the Northern District Jersey Breeders Club On Farm Challenge in November 2009 and placed top 10 at IDW 2010.
Flowerpower Babe's two natural calves have both entered progeny testing with Genetics Australia. Paperboy, by Manhattan, is due for a proof in 2010 and Bakari, by Tailboard will be progeny tested in 2009 and will receive his proof in 2013. She has been bred to Gannon to calve in Spring 2009. Classified 86 points @ 2 years, Flowerpower Babe 5 is now classified VG 88. Her two Brookbi daughters classified 85 points & 88 points max respectively @ 2 years.
