2010 northern lights sale - latest information
The Northern District Jersey Breeders Club hosted the ‘Northern Lights Sale and Jerseys…light years ahead’ three program in 2007, as part of the Australian Jersey Breeders Society, Victorian Branch, Annual General Meeting. The program was a huge success and encouraged by neighbouring clubs later the same year, it was decided to conduct a sale in the north of Victoria on an annual or bi-annual basis. Promotion of the jersey breed and providing the opportunity for breeders to come together and highlight the benefits of the jersey breed to the dairy industry in general, was an driving factor in the decision. The 2007 sale saw the top-priced animal sell to a syndicate with US interests and a very successful sale with a high average, second only to IDW nationally. 2008 followed in the footsteps of the inaugural event and saw a very successful sale.
The 2009 Northern Lights Sale was incorporated into the Inaugural Jersey Australia Annual General meeting and included associated formal and social events. A huge crown of jersey enthusiasts gathered at Jugiong Jersey's Girgarre, to witness a very successful 3rd Annual Northern Lights Sale. The sale kicked off a 3 day Jersey Extravaganza that included the inaugural Jersey Australia annual meering, herd tours annd social events for all to enjoy.
Plans for the Northern Lights Sale are well underway, the date to mark down is May 11th, 2010. The venue will again be Jugiong Jerseys.
